A South African Police Service (SAPS) helicopter crash landed alongside a runway at Virginia Airport in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday.
"This happened during a training exercise," said SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo.
"An investigation is under way and we will await a report which we hope will tell us what the caused the crash."
No one was injured in the incident, said Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care.
Prem Balram of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said paramedics were on the scene after the Eurocopter AS350 crashed at about 11:25.
