Austin Cindric made history on Friday with his second win in as many nights at Kentucky Speedway, leading 130 laps en route to claiming victory at the Alsco 300 in Sparta, Ky
Cindric, of Team Penske, beat Stewart-Haas Racing's Chase Briscoe by 2.262 seconds, one night after outdueling Briscoe -- a good friend and former teammate -- in an overtime restart to win the Shady Rays 200. It was the first time in the series' history that a driver won two races on consecutive days.
"I'm just so excited," Cindric said afterward. "This is all a credit to my team. What we did tonight was really impressive, because we ran one setup last night and won the race, and we came with another setup and won the race again. That happens at the shop, that happens with the guys on the box. So all credit to them. I'm the lucky one who gets to drive this Snap-On Ford Mustang."
Before Friday, Cindric had never won an Xfinity Series race on an oval track.
Richard Petty in 1971 in the NASCAR Cup Series was the last driver to win on back-to-back nights.
Justin Haley took third, with Ross Chastain and Justin Allgaier in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Allgaier was cleared to participate just hours before the start after being hospitalized following Thursday's race due to issues with his heart rate. Allgaier said the tests displayed that everything was fine.
Rounding out the top 10 were Anthony Alfredo, Noah Gragson, Michael Annett, Daniel Hemric and Riley Herbst.
