RABAT, 20th April, 2025 (WAM) -- Kalimat Foundation (KF) has launched a series of educational and cultural initiatives across multiple Moroccan cities, coinciding with the 30th edition of the Rabat International Publishing and Book Fair.
As part of its "Pledge a Library" initiative, the Foundation gifted 600 books, including 400 Arabic-language children's books distributed through four portable libraries and 200 books awarded to winners of the Moroccan Reading Network Award.
The programme culminated in an official visit to Moulay Ali Cherif Primary School in Rabat, led by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Chairperson of Kalimat Foundation. Sheikha Bodour led a reading session from her book House of Wisdom and gifted each student a copy, reinforcing the Foundation's mission to nurture a lifelong relationship with reading. The school also received a portable library of 100 books.
The event was attended by several Emirati and Moroccan cultural and educational leaders, including Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah; Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority; and Rachida Roki, President of the Association Reading Network in Morocco.
Sheikha Bodour said, "We are not simply providing children with books; we are offering them tools to dream and a window onto a broader world of possibilities. Knowledge is a basic right of every child, and reading makes a real difference in both individual lives and entire communities."
The Foundation also donated a portable library and digital tablets to the ASSAS Association in Ifrane, supported renovations to the association's library, and hosted a creative reading workshop based on Famous by Accident, a title from Kalimat Group.
Two additional portable libraries were donated to Walja Al Sultan and Al Tanmiya school groups.
The initiatives were funded in part by proceeds from products created with Emirati artist and KF Creative Ambassador Mohammed Al Mansoori.
Rachida Roki praised the Foundation's work, noting it "establishes a living relationship between children and knowledge through interactive experiences that enrich reading and connect it to everyday life."
Kalimat Foundation's efforts in Morocco form part of its wider mission to provide children in underserved communities with access to knowledge and literacy tools across the world.
