New Delhi [India], April 28 (ANI): Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita on Tuesday hailed the partnership between India and Africa as one of 'mutual respect', which is reflected in the diplomatic relations between the two nations.
He attended the Yuva Bharat Global Forum, which he said is being held at a moment when 'India-Africa relations are entering a new and decisive phase'.
Addressing the Forum, Margherita highlighted that such events play a huge role in elevating the relationship between the two nations.
'Major issues were picked today at the event, such as media innovation and cultural diplomacy as a bridge between African nations and India. The relationship between African countries and India is deeply rooted in mutual respect, traditional ties spanning centuries, cultural exchange, and people-to-people contact, which are also reflected in diplomacy. Such events, connecting the youth and culture, will leverage our relationship to the next level, and the special initiative by the youth will be a bridge between India and the continent of Africa,' he said.
The event was organised by the ChakBal Group, on the evolving India-Africa partnership, with a focus on media, innovation and cultural synergy between India and Africa.
In an X post, Margherita said that the event was graced by several diplomats.
'Highlighted India's approach anchored in equality, mutual respect and shared growth, aligned with the aspirations of Viksit Bharat@2047 and Africa's 'Agenda 2063'. As Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji has emphasised, Africa's goals are India's priorities, and our approach is to grow together as equals. Reaffirmed India's consistent support for a more inclusive and representative global order, guided by the spirit of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', as we work together towards a shared and sustainable future,' he said.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said the upcoming 4th India-Africa Forum Summit to be held from May 28-31 will define a more forward-looking partnership, as he joined the African envoys to launch the logo, theme, and website of the summit.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said, 'Joined African Ambassadors and those invested in India-Africa friendship to launch the Logo, Theme and Website of 4th India Africa Forum Summit.'
Highlighting the significance of the event, he added, 'The forthcoming Summit will shape the next phase of our partnership - one that is more ambitious, more inclusive, and more future-oriented. It will enable us to exchange best practices, share successful experiences and discuss common challenges.'
Jaishankar reaffirmed India's support for Africa's global role, noting 'India's consistent support to Africa's rightful place in global governance, demonstrated in AU's inclusion in G20 during India's 2023 presidency,' referring to the African Union joining the G20.
He further highlighted India's 'growing diplomatic footprint in Africa,' calling it a reflection of 'long-term commitment to engage with every African region.' (ANI)
